Preview: OCCRG versus Cedar Rapids Helldorados

It’s the Clash of the Corridor as the Old Capitol City Roller Girls take on our foes to the north: the Cedar Rapids Helldorados on September 10th at the Coralville Marriott at 7pm.

Since the last meeting with CRRG–on their home turf–OCCRG struck a decisive victory of 182-91, we have been training hard.  Several of our skaters have been training all summer, with skaters all over the country and bringing back drills and strategy from some of the top teams in the nation.  We’ve hardened our defense, pushed our endurance, and maximized our strategy knowledge.  We’ve also “graduated” several of our “fresh meat” skaters to playing in bouts–you may remember Outlaw Jessie Pains and Jenna JamISon from the Minnesota Roller Girls brawl, but you’ll be seeing a few other new faces on the home track–Red Tribution and JB as Pulp Affliction–all rockstar players that assisted in the victory over the Mid Iowa Rollers earlier this month.

Since our last meeting, CRRG has been training hard as well.  Under the new, decisive direction of the the formidable Kentucky Pain, CRRG is looking to strike a blow.  As well as the able leadership of Ms. Pain, CRRG now boasts jammer Sal Paralyze, whose fast footwork and endurance strikes fear in the hearts of many.

Who will reign victorious?  The only way to find out is to come to CLASH OF THE CORRIDOR, Saturday, September 10th at 7pm at the Coralville Marriott.  Pre sale tickets are available at the New Pi Coops, Uniquely Ink, and Crossroads Tattoo–for $10.  Door price is $13 for adults, and kids 10 and under are FREE.  Doors at 6:15, bout at 7.  You can get all the details and RSVP on our facebook page.  Come cheer loud and proud, OCCRG fans!

Big Changes for OCCRG

Welcome to our new website!  We’re happy you’re here.

There are lots of new features, so be sure to click around.  Check out new pictures of your favorite skaters, or add pictures to our flickr pool!  Check out our great new MULTIMEDIA page that has fantastic videos that you can check out here on the website, or enjoy on our YouTube channel.  There are great new pictures of the merchandise that is available at our home bouts–complete with our NEW LOGO!

We’d like to thank everyone who made this change possible: our skaters, officials, volunteers, OUR FANTASTIC SPONSORS, the Iowa City Community, all of the teams who have aided us and given us wonderful advice, and Andrew Sherborne–without who you would not be reading this, since he designed our shiny, new website.  Thank you so much!  You are all absolute rockstars!

We’ll be adding lots of great new content in the near future, so stick around and check back.

ROLL OUT!

The Old Capitol City Roller Girls are pleased to announce their Roll Out party which will be taking place on August 26th at the Coralville Marriott!

We have worked hard this year to push our league on and off the track and are ready to celebrate. Come party with us at our lovely home, the Coralville Marriott Convention Center, for an awesome night for the whole family. Admission is only $5 and children 10 and under are free!! RSVP on facebook and let us know you’ll be there!

We will be highlighting our AMAZING new skaters in an abbreviated bout demo starting around 7:30. They have been working hard all season, so come check out the new talent!

It will also be out with the old and in with the new as we present a brand spankin’ new website along with our revamped LOGO! This will be the first glimpse of our new logo, so you can’t miss this event.

There will be games and activities for all ages with prizes and chances to win bout tickets to our remaining 2 home bouts. Bring your dancin shoes because we will have a DJ running tunes for us until a very awesome performance by Hott!

Don’t forget, we also have three more bouts in this season–in Des Moines versus the Mid Iowa Rollers on August 13th, and then two home bouts, September 10th versus Cedar Rapids Helldorados, and October 15th versus Mad Rollin’ Dolls Team Unicorn.

End your summer with a kick-ass party with OCCRG and help us finish our exciting 2011 season. Hope to see you there!
